Newquay in Cornwall is a favourite holiday destination amongst thousands in the summer months, but what is all the fuss about? Without a doubt one of the main reasons tourists visit is to surf. However, there are many other things that Newquay has to offer, with a variety of various beach activities available, and a town that has a lot to give!

Newquay is the place to go if you are looking for a surfing vacation. It has 10 large sandy beaches that give the ideal location for surfing, body-boarding or swimming, as well as just relaxation! Whilst Fistral Beach is the most popular beach that everyone goes to, there are many other less popular beaches that all have something to offer.

Great Western Beach is great for learning to surf at. When the tide is out, this beach is massive, leaving a reasonable area for surfers to accommodate. It is also home to Reef Surf School, where there are a number of instructors providing quality surf instruction, aimed at both beginners and those that have surfed before. They also give great surfing help as to where you’re possibly going wrong, and how to get better. This ensures that you can make the most out of your time at sea, enjoying the Newquay surf!

Newquay does cater for other sports besides surfing. As there are large waves breaking onto the beach, there is the chance to endure in some wind surfing, kite surfing, and even some kayaking when the waves aren’t too big! The annual Boardmasters festival takes place at Fistral Beach each year which brings surfers and skaters together, showcasing their talent! There are also volleyball courts on several of the beaches, meaning that it is likely that there will be something for you to have fun doing.
